About the Event

The second Africa-EU Competition Week will continue the technical exchanges between European and African competition enforcers, this time in Bruges, Belgium, at the premises of the College of Europe. The focus of this 2nd Africa-EU Competition Week (“AEUCW”) is on investigative procedures and analytical frameworks in competition law enforcement. This will include discussing experiences covering the different steps of competition investigations and proceedings, ranging from information gathering tools and case management, through to frameworks for economic assessment and the design of remedies. It will cover cartels, merger control, abuse of dominance, State interventions in markets and interactions with sector regulators. The AEUCW will provide an in-person opportunity for competition officials, academics and practitioners from across Africa and the EU to exchange technical experiences, good practices and address common challenges. The four days of the AEUCW will consist of thematic sessions, workshops and panel debates.
Participation to the 2nd Africa-EU Competition Week is by invitation only and it is open to officials of national and regional competition authorities and related government bodies in Africa.
